WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations in the country.
The Watch DOGS program encourages fathers and father figures to spend a few hours in their children's school helping with a wide variety of daily activities and adding an additional level of safety and security to the school environment. During the day the Watch DOG has a flexible schedule that includes such things as assisting with classroom activities, escorting kids to/from classrooms and the vehicle pick-up areas, security checks and a whole lot more depending on what is needed during that particular day. The schedule allows dads to do those things that they most want to participate in or feel most comfortable with. What are the goals of a WATCH D.O.G.S. program? 1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. 2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. St. James Catholic School is fortunate to have several Dad volunteers who help with activities during our school day. The acronym DOGS stands for “Dad of Great Students”. Please contact the school office at 816-781-4428, if you are interested in volunteering. |
